Atlassian's Big Move
Atlassian is shifting gears from being just a tool for Software and IT Helpdesk teams to becoming a tool for all teams. How? By combining Jira Work Management (JWM) and Jira Software, rolling out Goals to Jira, introducing Rovo (Generative AI) to Confluence and Jira, and integrating Loom video capabilities. Will it work?
Well, the success hinges on whether Rovo lives up to its promises as there’s a lot of competition in generative AI. They do have a decent chance though as even this blog post was written using Confluence AI to summarise content from a PowerPoint presentation we used in an internal team workshop!
What's New in Jira?

Interestingly, Goals works across Jira instances and is attached to your Atlassian account. So if like me you’re a member of multiple sites, it’s the first time you can see an aggregation of things in this way without using plug ins or integration tools.
Meet Rovo - Your AI Sidekick
Rovo, the Generative AI, is here to streamline your enterprise's data management. From connecting various platforms like SharePoint, Google Drive, Figma, Slack, and Teams to offering custom APIs and AI learning capabilities, Rovo is in hyped as your go-to virtual teammate for content creation, task automation, and knowledge sharing.
No just like Jira Automation, Rovo could be a bit of a game changer. The Agents don't look like older style chat-bots that help with service desk ticket routing. There are 20 OOTB Agents that can help with content review and curation, team member onboarding, workflow agents and you can even create custom agents.
We at Interfuze haven’t played with them yet but if we can make a custom agent that looks at my outlook calendar and Jira tickets and then fills in my timesheets for last week whilst playing “Take it Easy” by the Eagles, then we'd be happy chaps!

Combining Jira and Video is interesting. Imagine showing someone what’s broken instead of typing out steps to reproduce, or may including videos for feature training or even explaining a user requirement to a developer offshore and in a different time zone??
